  HOW TO REGISTER TO BE AN OVERSEAS ELECTOR

  Singapore Citizens who are residing overseas and wish to cast their votes at any of the nine designated overseas polling stations during elections may apply to be registered as overseas electors, provided they satisfy the following qualifying criteria as on 1 February 2010:-

(a) They are Singapore citizen not less than 21 years old;
(b) They have a Singapore residential address registered with the Commissioner of National Registration (at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority) (ie. a valid local address in the NRIC), or in the case where they have changed their NRIC address to a foreign address, they have reported a contact address (see FAQs for the definition of "contact address" under the National Registration Act) in Singapore with the Commissioner of National Registration;
(c) They are not disqualified from being an elector under any prevailing law; and
(d) They have resided in Singapore for a total of 30 days during the three years immediately before 1 February 2010.

When the current registers of electors are revised and the revised registers are exhibited for public inspection, overseas Singaporeans may apply for registration online via the eServices provided at this website using their NRIC number and Singpass. If they do not have their Singpass, they may also apply for registration by submitting a completed and signed "Application To Be Registered As Overseas Elector" Form to Elections Department or any of the overseas registration centres by hand or by post. Registration will remain open until the time when the writ of election is issued, and will resume after the election. All accepted registrations will remain valid until the registers of electors are next revised. Registered overseas electors will then have to re-apply for registration. The date when the registers of electors are revised and exhibited for inspection will be published in the Government Gazette and announced to the public through the mass media.
